Greenberry Organics Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Soap Brick Review

Hello dearies! ❤❤❤
What’s up with you all? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Today, let’s talk about the “salts of fatty acids”! 😀
Hey, don’t panic! I am just talking about the regular “soaps”! 😛 😛 😛

When we look back into the history, our “soaps” have indeed come a long way… From the alkaline salt mixed animal fat and vegetable oil soap bases used by the Egyptians and a mixture of pig pancreas and plant ash used in the ancient China to the stinky soapy balls made out of animal fat in Europe and the fragrant, hard blocks of soap made from glycerin and olive oil in the Islamic Middle East…
The consistency and constituents of the “soap” might have changed over time, but their importance didn’t! ❤
It was actually the Islamic Middle East that built the foundation for the huge industrial production of the toilet soaps, distributing them to the other Islamic countries and throughout the Europe… ❤
And with the growing industrialization, the addition of chemicals and artificial preservatives in the soaps also increased manifold times, all thanks to the ever-increasing demands, making people, in recent years, boycott soaps and shift to less harmful body washes!

But then, everything evolves to become better with time and so did the chemical-laden soaps! 🙂
Now-a-days, a lot of organic brands have come up with chemical and preservative free soaps, that also contain added benefits of hydration, anti-microbial action, anti-tan properties and much more which makes them a favourite of all, once again… ❤

Greenberry Organics is one such brand that works in order to cater to the growing demand for modern but chemical-free skincare, without hampering the quality of their products! ❤
And today, my review is over a soap from them! Read on… ❤

MY TAKE ON THE PRODUCT:

The Greenberry Organics shea butter and coconut oil soap brick comes in a thick, transparent plastic packaging with a brown coloured label wrapped around it… The label contains all the details about the product, including the ingredients list and the warnings! ❤

The soap has a milky white colour to it and smells like a sweet dish made from coconut oil, but the fragrance is extremely mild and is only evident on sniffing the bar! 😛
This soap is a huge 150g brick that is quite difficult to hold with one hand and I prefer cutting it into smaller blocks before using! 😛 The brick is quite soft to touch and gets sliced easily with a butter knife without leaving behind any scratches or distortions in the bar! 😀
But, even though the soap is soft, it doesn’t melt easily when kept in contact with water and one bar would easily last you for at least a month and a half, even if used regularly, which kind of makes up for its comparatively higher price! 😛

The soap leaves a slightly creamy layer on the body when rubbed on wet skin! It is devoid of any lather-forming ingredients and hence doesn’t result in any lather when used alone! But with a wet loofah, it forms a thick and creamy lather, giving a luxurious and nourishing bathing experience! ❤
Moreover, it effectively cleanses the skin of all the dirt, grime and excess oil with or without a loofah and so a loofah is not a necessity! ❤

The soap removes all the impurities from the surface of the skin, without sucking away the natural oils and moisture from the skin! ❤
The skin on my body is naturally dry and tends to get extremely dry during the colder days… I have been using this soap for almost 20 days now and I can clearly say that it doesn’t leave my skin stretchy and cracked, unlike most of the other soaps and even body washes, although it is not enough nourishing for my skin either! My skin feels clean and very slightly nourished after use! 😀

I feel this would be a great soap for people with normal-combination to oily skin types and they can easily skip their regular moisturizer after using this… While people with normal skin types may or may not feel the need to use a body lotion later, depending on how their skin behaves! 😛
And for the dry to ultra-dry skin types like mine, this is going to be a great option during the summers as this is going to provide enough nourishment during hotter days for us to skip moisturisation… But for the rest of the year, the drier-skinned people would need to follow it up with a moisturizer or the soap would leave the skin dry and a bit stretchy…

I have also used this soap on my oily-combination facial skin, owing to its chemical free nature and it has worked pretty well for me… We all know that a soap meant for body is a bit harsh for face, no matter how organic or nourishing it is, so, I wouldn’t say that it is the perfect soap for the facial skin (it doesn’t even claim to be! 😛 ), but it is enough nourishing to leave my skin quite normal and not much dry… My skin didn’t feel itchy or stretchy immediately after use and only began to feel dry after 10-15 minutes when I skipped my facial moisturizer to observe the effects of the soap! 😀

So, I would definitely say that if you are looking for an organic, effective and nourishing soap for your body, the Greenberry Organics shea butter and coconut oil soap would be a great choice! ❤

SUMMING UP PROS AND CONS:

PROS:
1. Easily available online… You can get it from Amazon, Nykaa or even Greenberry’s own website!
2. The soap brick doesn’t melt easily (although it is not physically hard), even if it is kept in contact with water! And due to this property, one brick would easily last you for a month and a half, even if used regularly! ❤
3. The soap is completely free from parabens, sulphates, toxic chemicals and only contains naturally derived ingredients! ❤
4. It has an extremely mild but soothing sweetish fragrance of coconut oil which is only evident on sniffing the brick and doesn’t transfer to the lather! 😛
5. The soap doesn’t contain any kind of sulphates and hence, it produces no lather at all! One can simply rub it on the skin and massage with a wet loofah to get a bit of creamy lather!
6. The soap effectively cleanses the skin of all the dirt, grime and excess oil without sucking away the natural moisture from the skin!
7. Combination to oily skinned beauties wouldn’t feel the need to apply any moisturizer after using this soap while normal skinned people might or might not require a moisturizer depending on how their skin behaves! 😀
For dry to severely dry skin (like mine 🙁 ) types, this soap might not make the skin feel drier than before, but one would certainly need a thick moisturizer anyway! 😛
8. Apart from using the soap on body, one can undoubtedly use it on the facial skin (only normal to oily skin types) owing to its chemical free and hydrating nature! ❤

CONS:
1. The soap is not able to provide a decent amount of hydration to the dry and severely dry skin types and the skin might feel dry and stretchy post use if not followed up with a good moisturizer!
2. It is slightly expensive compared to the similar soaps from other good organic brands!
3. The soap is not travel friendly due to its huge size and mainly, because it is a ‘soap’! 😛

RATING: 4.5/5

FINAL TAKE: What I love the most about this soap is that it is completely natural and doesn’t contain any sort of harmful chemicals in it and yet effectively cleanses the skin! I would recommend it to everyone with a “not-so-dry” skin type and as for me, I might repurchase it during the summers so that I can skip the trouble of applying a moisturizer on my dry skin during those sweaty days! 😛

Hope It Helps! ❤
