Hello dear people! ❤❤❤
I hope you all are doing great! 🙂
We all have a few favourites when it comes to beauty products, don’t we?
Products that effortlessly blend into our skin, as per our necessities, as if they were custom-made for us! ❤
And then there are a few products which we purchase with high hopes and want them to ‘work’ and give them a thousand chances, but they still disappoint us! 😛
Today, I am going to talk about one such moisturizer which I bought a year back and have been using it every now and then to give it a fair chance and I am still so confused about it! 🙁
Read on to know why! 😛

MY TAKE ON THE PRODUCT:
Lotus Herbals Alphamoist oil-free moisturizer comes in a pale-yellow coloured plastic bottle packaging with an easy-to-use pump dispenser on the top! It also comes with a sturdy plastic cap which shuts with a ‘click’ sound and keeps the dispenser safe, eliminating the possibility of leakage and making the packaging quite travel-friendly! ❤
The bottle contains all the details about the product, including the complete list of ingredients and the manufacturing details mentioned over it…
The moisturizer has a gel cream like texture and a non-runny consistency… It is translucent white in colour and possesses a mild but pleasant, floral fragrance which vanishes soon after application and hence, it would not bother the sensitive noses! ❤
I have a combination skin type which turns really oily during the summers and keeping it hydrated without increasing the greasiness is a huge task! I bought this moisturizer after going through some amazing reviews and thinking that this would be the perfect match for my oily skin, but alas! 😛
This Lotus moisturizer is no doubt oil-free and non-greasy but it has got a weird plastic-y feel to it… And by ‘plastic-y’, I mean that no matter how dehydrated my skin is when I massage the moisturizer onto my skin, it just wouldn’t get absorbed! It takes over a minute for the skin to absorb a single pump of the cream and while massaging, one can clearly feel the weird slimy texture of the moisturizer under their fingers!
Other than that, when the temperature and humidity is/gets high, this moisturizer makes the skin sweat profusely… I typically don’t sweat much even on a ‘very hot’ summer day but this cream makes my face and neck sweat like anything and even makes the skin go slimy and sticky… And wiping the sweat is practically of no use as the slimy feeling only goes away after washing the face thoroughly! 🙁
So, in my opinion, if you have an oily to extremely oily skin type (or a skin type that turns oily to extremely oily during summers) this moisturizer is NOT for you!
Now, I have also used this moisturizer during the transition months (when the days are neither too hot nor too cold) when my skin doesn’t get very oily and instead, continuously shifts in between normal to oily-combination skin types… I have observed that when the temperature outside isn’t too hot or humid, this moisturizer doesn’t make my skin sweat… But that doesn’t make much of a difference because MOST of the times I have felt that even 3-4 pumps of the cream weren’t enough to hydrate my face and my skin still felt stretchy! So, finding that balance period when the moisturizer actually works, is pretty hard! Also, it did nothing to ‘renew’ or ‘rejuvenate’ the skin, neither did it do anything to provide a ‘vibrant’ or ‘younger’ looking complexion, even with regular use!
I have used this moisturizer for enough times and in enough different weather conditions to say that it isn’t suitable for “all the skin types”, unlike what it claims!
In my opinion, this moisturizer would only work well for combination to oily-combination skin types, during the transition months and the initial days of summer… During this time, it would keep the above mentioned skin types well-hydrated without leaving behind any greasy residue or making the skin sweat!
And for rest of the skin types…
While it would make the oily to combination skin types go sweaty and slimy during the summers, it would leave the normal-combination to dry skin types stretchy and under-hydrated during the initial summers and the transition (and obviously, colder) months!
Additionally, the moisturizer contains a lot of chemicals, including parabens and petrochemicals, which is a big turn off for me! 😛

SUMMING UP PROS AND CONS:
1. Easily available both online as well as offline! You can find it on Amazon, Flipkart and Nykaa!
2. Convenient, leak-proof and travel-friendly packaging!
3. Contains quite a few skin-loving ingredients like almond oil, wheat germ oil, grapes extract, aloe vera extract and milk enzymes!
4. Has a mild but pleasant, floral fragrance!
5. Most suitable for combination to oily-combination skin types during the transition months of the year!
6. For the condition mentioned above, it leaves the skin hydrated and supple without leaving behind any greasy residue!
7. Doesn’t breakout the skin!
1. The moisturizer feels quite plastic-y while massaging and takes a good amount of time to get absorbed into the skin!
2. During the hot/humid days, it leaves the skin sweating profusely and makes it feel slimy!
3. It fails to provide proper hydration to the skin types that lie in between normal-combination to dry!
4. Contains a lot of chemicals, including Parabens and Petrochemicals!
FINAL TAKE: If you have a combination to oily-combination skin type and just want a hydrating moisturizer for those ‘transition months’, you CAN give Lotus Alphamoist a go… But for all the other skin types, I WOULDN’T recommend this moisturizer at all!
Hope it helps! ❤
